In the 19th century, the Robin shipyard was one of the largest in Eastern Canada. It built fishing barges but above all transatlantic ships.
On the Paspébiac bank, the shipyard had ten buildings : a carpentry shop, a cooperage, a forge and many others! Throughout the year, craftsmen kept busy repairing and building ships. Many were natives of Jersey, a small island lying between France and England.
Although the tall ships have disappeared, the craftsmen’s presence can still be felt through the tools and graffiti left behind in the Robin carpentry shop.
